Pining for a Stranger

Today I felt like writing myself off
Restless, I spoke too much, digressed from myself too much

Silence all around me, howling in my lost ears
My emotions raw, my feelings intense

Each smile of mine filled with expectation
That she and I will walk the uncharted road

Discover how when strangers show each other the way
This earth comes alive, this world becomes new

But time and time again it shows
This town isn’t made for emotions and feelings
It isn’t made for strangers to meet their eyes

And so once again I look at the horizon
Away from the bruising silences
Recalling my promises, counting my days.
